Ravenswood Park

The plaque at the entrance of Ravenswood Park's Main Trail

Ravenswood Park offers 600 acres for solitude and quiet contemplation of nature. Whether you prefer to surround yourself with snow-covered hemlocks, experience spring emerging in a burst of color and aroma, or escape the summer’s heat – you’ll find a refuge here. The park is a testament to one man’s conservationist philosophy, and to all those who have cared for this special place.

Breakheart Reservation

Open year-round, dawn to dusk. Breakheart Reservation is a 640-acre hardwood forest with jagged, rocky outcroppings, two fresh-water lakes, and a rambling section of the Saugus River. Seven rocky hills, over 200 feet high, provide vistas of Boston, southern New Hampshire and central Massachusetts. An extensive trail system through the woodlands guides visitors to various areas of the reservation. Fishing in Silver and Pearce Lakes, hiking the trails and birdwatching by the Saugus River are popular year-round activities.

Danvers Rail Trail

The Rail Trail follows an old rail line that runs in a north-south direction connecting Peabody to Wenham. It is the southernmost section of the regional Border to Boston trail from Danvers to Salisbury. The route of the rail trail winds from the Peabody line south of Andover Street, through the heart of downtown Danvers with the new Swampwalk and the Wenham and Topsfield trail to the north.

J.C. Phillips Nature Preserve

This Nature reserve is split between Beverly an Wenham.  This nature area is a great place to walk, run and hike.  The preserve borders Wenham Lake, which supplies the drinking water for the cities of Beverly and Salem and for a portion of the town of Wenham.  As you walk on the property you can view the tribute to Dom Manzoli, a dedicated citizen advocate who, for over three decades, fought to protect the water quality of Wenham Lake and its watershed.
