Rebecca Visnick, Deputy Shellfish Constable of Gloucester, Ma, and Mark Irving from the Parker River Blanding’s Turtle Conservation Project, will be on here to to talk about a variety of creatures that live in our watershed.
Rebecca grew up on Cape Ann and has a diverse background in the marine sciences with experiences ranging from marine mammal and sea turtle necropsies, aquarium biology, benthic ecology studies, octopus husbandry, seal rescue and rehabilitation and marine science education. She currently works as the Deputy Shellfish and Alewife Constable in Gloucester where she facilitates the Little River herring count and maintains fish passage and assists with managing Gloucester’s shellfishing industry.
Mark Irving spearheads one of the states foremost blandings turtle conservation programs. As a member of the Parker River Clean Water Association and an educator, he loves bringing blandings turtles to local schools for hands-on learning. One of his jobs is to protect and monitor the nests.
