Sawyer Free Library is excited to host its first annual Comic-con.
The Sawyer Free Library’s first-ever Comic-Con will be on Saturday, April 30, 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 2 Dale Avenue in Gloucester, MA.
GloCon 2022 is a free, all-ages event celebrating comics, graphic novels as art, literature and pop culture that will bring together fans, young and old, and creators for a jam-packed day of special guests, workshops, live programs, games, photo ops, and more! Celebrating the library's graphic novel and comicbook collections, costumes are encouraged!
Registration only for workshops required.

- Make Your Own Comics! - (ages 7-13, all ages) The workshop is run by Cathy G. Johnson, Providence-based writer and artist of the graphic novel "The Breakaways." 10 to 11:30 a.m. Cathy G. Johnson - author/artist of The Breakaways, Gorgeous and Jeremiah.

- Storytime: We Dig Worms - (young children) Young children and their families can enjoy a fun science-filled story time with Kevin McCloskey - author/illustrator of the Giggle & Learn Series for Toon Books, science comics for young readers.
- Fun with Mark Parisi - Recommended for grades 2-7, but all-ages will enjoy this fun event with "Marty Pants" author Mark Parisi - Gloucester's own syndicated cartoonist Off The Mark, author of Marty Pants series. Find cartoons, live drawing, writing and drawing tips and an author Q & A. 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Create Comics with Art Haven - (all ages) Create your own comic book with the creative team from the local non-profit Art Haven. 10 to 11:30 a.m.
- Lightsaber Training - (all ages) Dabble in the Dark Side or learn how to fight it with the 501st Legion! 1 to 3 p.m.
- Your Story Matters - Explore storytelling through writing and drawing exercises with Leela Corman, the Providence-based, award-winning artist, cartoonist, and author of the graphic novel "Unterzakhn." This program is best for teens and adults. 2 p.m.
