The Forest River: Off the Beaten Path

Walk the Forest River and explore a hidden gem in Salem with the folks from Salem Sound Coastwatch

Join Salem Sound Coastwatch staff and volunteers to walk the Forest River and explore a hidden gem that is right in our own back yard. Stroll along the river winding its way through salt marsh, an abundant habitat for many fish and birds. Take in the view of Salem from the top of Eagle Hill and learn about this body of water that flows into Salem Harbor. Wear shoes that can get muddy. Participants should be able to walk approximately 1 mile. Hosted by Salem Sound Coastwatch.

Meet at: Pickman Park, Intersection of Monroe & Lincoln Roads, Salem, MA, 01970

  • The trail head is located in the woods straight ahead as you pull in the parking lot.
