Discover one of Gloucester's most vital ecosystems - the salt marsh. Learn about all of the wildlife that depend on it for survival, and investigate its importance for coastal communities. Get up close with some salt marsh flora and fauna, and play a game to learn more about what it take. For kids ages 6-10.

Celebrate our living world — and the aspects you wish to protect most — by creating your own collage. Then, take a moment to share on the white board what you most want to protect in this world.
Bring your little Knights and Ladies to the Hammond Castle Museum for an educational and hands-on introduction to the history of heraldry on Knights and Ladies Day! This hour-long program on April 20, is geared towards 7–11 year-olds, and will be held in the Great Hall of the Museum, where their imagination can run wild, just as John Hays Hammond Jr., the inventor who built the Castle intended.

Come all day or as your schedule allows! This Session will focus on the habitats and creatures of vernal pools and ponds. Today we'll explore the life and wonder that you can find in ponds and pools!
While Spring is the time of new growth, it may still be too cold for fresh flowers or green grass. Bring some green life inside with an easy and adorable mason jar terrarium. We’ll use glass mason jars, gravel, soil, mosses and plants to create a miniature natural world that can stay on your desk or windowsill. You’ll leave with a mini terrarium of your own, plus the skills to make bigger ones at home.
Warmer spring weather means its sheep shearing time on the farm. But what to do with all that wool? Learn about the time honored tradition of wool felting. We’ll start by learning how to “card” the raw wool into soft fiber for spinning or felting. Afterwards, we’ll try our hand making twisted wool bracelets and felt balls to be used for farm-fun necklaces. Wool, wood beads and decorative string will be provided, but feel free to bring anything special of your own to add to your necklace. Afterwards meet our three woolly sheep and feed them a snack! Recommended for ages 6-9 but all are welcome.
Secret places in nature hide little creatures that are getting ready for winter now. We'll learn how to discover and observe these places with care and respect.
